A few weeks back, Glenbervie's Bobby Rushford attended his PGA Graduation ceremony at the University of Birmingham. Bobby's graduation was the culmination of 3 years of coursework and exams as part of the PGA degree programme, and means that he is now an official member of the Professional Golfers Association. There were over 100 graduates attending the ceremony along with guest of honour, (Ryder Cup great) Bernard Gallagher OBE, who handed out the official certificates.
As well as picking up his graduation certificate, Bobby also finished 2nd in the Assistant of the Year Awards for the whole of the UK. (Keir McNicol from Gullane GC finished first). The awards are sponsored by Titliest and are based on the results of the year long course work and final exams. Bobby received his award from Titleist brand director Matthew Johnson. The photograph below shows Bobby alongside Matthew Johnson, PGA Captain Nicky Lumb, and Bernard Gallacher.
Many congratulations to Bobby on both his graduation and his Assistant Of The Year Award - very well deserved.
PS. For those that may not know, around a decade ago in the amateur home international series, Bobby went toe-to-toe with a certain Englishman called Danny Willett - I wonder whatever became of him !
