It may still be early on in the season, but Glenbervie's lady golfers have already achieved some considerable success in external competitions.
On Sunday 13th May, a group of our lady members played in the Gleneagles Ladies Open. The sun shone, everyone had a great day, and from the large entry it was our own Liz Breingan who took home the trophy. Very well done Liz (who is shown in the photograph below receiving her trophy).
Our results in the first two county meetings of the season have also been good. At Stirling Golf Club on 16th April, Jennifer Allan won the Innes Rosebowl, with a fantastic gross 73, while Liz Breingan won 3rd bronze handicap. In the County Championship qualifying at Alloa Golf Club, Fiona Ross won the Captain's Prize with a nett 70, while Linda Allan won second scratch with a gross 76. In the subsequent championship match play, Margaret Tough and Alison Goodwin reached the quarter finals and Liz Breingan reached the first round of the inaugural handicap championship.
Finally, on 5th May, a number of our lady members took part in the Falkirk Tryst annual charity day. This is a team competition, which this year raised funds for a local charity fighting sepsis. One of our teams (Mary Jimenez, Karen Murray, Liz Breingan and Fiona Ross) won the ladies competition with a great score of 119. A super day out in a very good cause.
It has been a great start to the season for the club ladies - let's hope there is more to come!
